- What name of the ore or material it is found in and where is it found - Silver is naturally found in crystals. it is mostly mined in Peru, Mexico, China and Australia.
- How is the ore mined or collected - Silver is very rarely found naturally There are two ways that silver is obtained. Firstly, its is mined. Silver is mined out of crystals in veins. It is mined by both drilling and open pits and is commonly found amongst other minerals. Secondly, Silver is a by-product of other minerals. It is extracted after the refining process of gold, copper and lead.
- Cultural issues with the mining of silver - A major cultural issue with the mining of silver is the placement of the mines. One example of this is the Huichol Indians. This group protested the placement of a silver mine as is was located in their sacred mountains
- Have the mining companies extracted the ores using ethical issues - After the total extraction of silver at Federation/La Perouse Mine, has under gone the Federation/La Perouse Mine (Croydon) Rehabilitation Project. In this project, as per the lease agreement, the mining company has to rehabilitate the processing plant area, tailings dam, and waste rock dumps, as well as other disturbances from mining and exploration. unfortunately due to lack of money and price drops, the project ended in 1997. Although mining companies have to rehabilitate the land, not all comply with these ethical issues.
